Publish with the Consortium

We publish original research papers, policy briefs, and op-eds from current or recent graduate or undergraduate students that have not been published elsewhere. See guidelines and rules of submission below.

Research Paper Guidelines:

Eligibility 

All research papers must relate to issues concerning the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda or be looked at through a feminist, gendered, and intersectional lens. The Consortium accepts research papers written by current students or recent graduates of an undergraduate or graduate program of an affiliated university. Papers submitted to other publications and accepted cannot be accepted by the Consortium.

Content

The research paper should be between 2,500-5,000 words in length. All research papers must include at least one policy recommendation for a policy actor.

Format

Please ensure your research paper is written in size 12 Times New Roman font in black ink and double-spaced. Submit your paper in a Word document with your last name in the file title (ex. LastName_ResearchPaper). Include all citations according to the Chicago Manual of Style guidelines (with complete citation in footnotes – see website for examples). Prior to acceptance, all citations will be vetted for accuracy by the Director of Research and Policy.

Bio

Each author must submit a short bio that includes first and last name, academic institution, career aspirations, and what the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda means to them. The bio should not exceed 500 words. We encourage you to submit a photo of yourself as well.


Policy Brief Guidelines

Eligibility

All policy briefs must relate to issues concerning the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda or be looked at through a feminist, gendered, and intersectional lens. The Consortium will only accept briefs written by current students or recent graduates of an undergraduate or graduate program of an affiliated university. Research submitted to other publications and accepted cannot be accepted by the Consortium.

Content

A policy brief is short, succinct, concise and should be no longer than 3,000 words in length. A suggested policy briefing outline is included below. All briefings must include at least one policy recommendation for a policy actor. 

Format 

Please ensure your policy brief is written in size 12 Times New Roman font in black ink and single-spaced. Submit your brief in a Word document with your last name in the file title (ex. LastName_PolicyBrief). Include all citations according to the Chicago Manual of Style guidelines (with complete citation in footnotes – see website for examples). We encourage you to add relevant graphics, photos, quotes in text boxes etc. to add visual elements to your briefing.

The Consortium will only accept op-eds written by current students or recent graduates of an undergraduate or graduate program of an affiliated university. Writing submitted to other publications and accepted cannot be accepted by the Consortium.

All op-eds must relate to current issues concerning the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda or be looked at through a feminist, gendered, and intersectional lens. The op-ed paper should be between 500-800 words in length. 

Format 

Please ensure your op-ed is written in size 12 Times New Roman font in black ink and double-spaced. Submit your op-ed in a Word document with your last name in the file title (ex. LastName_OpEd). Include all citations as hyperlinks. Prior to acceptance, all citations will be vetted for accuracy by the Director of Research and Policy.
